Marches Energy Advice wanted a useful way for advisers and households to understand the electricity use and running costs of household appliances. HEAT turns that need into an accessible web app, allowing people to explore their household energy use and consider how changes could affect costs and carbon emissions.
Built around the way people use it
The tool supports an energy audit of household appliances, with options to compare current and planned usage and estimate annual costs and potential savings. The project also included mobile-friendly improvements, configurable appliance information and administrative tools for managing the experience.

Developed collaboratively, from idea to live app
We worked iteratively with Marches Energy Advice, using feedback and testing to refine the experience and functionality. The finished app is live for people to use. Our approach is to understand the problem first, build around real requirements, and improve the product in collaboration with the people who know its users.
